It's Wedding Day!
Day 36 - November 17, 2021
Oh my gosh you guyyyysss!
This wedding is wild. First things first:
I woke up and dressed in a blue floor length gown to photograph and attend the wedding. My hosts gifted me this dress and after trying on about 10 outfits we finally found one that fit. India is not the most accommodating for taller, curvier women, but we found one that worked. I did my makeup and my hair.
The wedding was set to start at 9:30 sharp. The wedding officially began at 11 AM instead. The pastor gave a full sermon that ended at 11:50 and then the family all stood up and lined the stage to sing a song. The song sounded like “One Day More” from Les Miserable but with a south Asian vibe and lyrics.
They did the family portraits in the hotel room before the wedding.
There are like 8 photographers/videographers here.
There is no first kiss.
They exchange rings and garlands with each other’s names on them.
They sign the marriage certificate during the ceremony.
We took the bride to the groom’s house for the first time. The girls of the house stopped them and asked several questions. Once the bride and groom answered all the questions they had to pay the sister's to be allowed in the house.
The grooms room is small. There is only a bed.
