Sunrise to Sunset
Day 27 - November 8, 2021
This morning I woke up at 5 AM to get ready for a sunrise engagement session. No one else in the house was awake so I quietly tiptoed out and went to the roof to watch the sunrise. It was so beautiful. This city is constantly hazy for some reason so I couldn't see a lot of definition but I could see colors dancing across the sky. I listened to the song "Better" by Tribl & Maverick City Music as I walked around in the crisp morning air. 10/10 Recommend.
I had a second session with Rachel and Pradeep today. It amazes me how much they have grown in how they interact with each other. Just last week they could barely look at each other and now they are holding hands and giggling on the beach. I was working with another photographer named Danny and a videographer named Vadom (I probably spelled that wrong). They kept calling me "Alexa" and after about 3 hours of that I finally said "I am not a Google assistant. That is not my name." Everyone laughed but honestly I have a name and that is not it. Between "Alex" and "Alexa" I am slowly loosing my identity as ALEXIS. I like ALEXIS. It means "helper (protector) of mankind" and I genuinely love that.
Anyway, enough of that. We ate out for breakfast and I had a cheese omelet, a paper dosa which is like a crispy crepe, lentil soup, and coffee. While at breakfast I finished the couple's first preview and shared it with them. Lightroom has a new update that is making editing a LOT faster and I'm having a blast. The new masking tools are perfection. If you are curious about what I mean, Katelyn James talks about some of the new features in this video.
Lunch was back at the house after we finished the second location and second outfit. My hosts hadn't made anything different for me, so instead I ate what everyone else was eating. It was delicious! And painful. I was in pain for about an hour. Usually when they make my food they either use no spice or they put like one chili in whatever they are making. The food I ate for lunch had green chilis and 7-9 scoops of red chili powder. It was HOT. It was that make-you-burp kinda hot. My stomach was doing gymnastics. My lips had no need for lipstick because they were the perfect shade of red. My face looked like I had been in the sun for just a little too long. Everything was hot. I didn't know if I needed to sit up or lay down so I lounged on the cool tile floor for a minute until I felt more relaxed. THESE PEOPLE EAT THIS WAY FOR EVERY MEAL. Wild. Absolutely wild. Will not be making that mistake twice.
After that I was able to take a short nap and then woke up to head to another photoshoot. We ended up not being able to shoot so I took some self portraits and headed back to the house where I was given afternoon tea. I spent the evening sipping on tea, editing, and talking to my hosts. After almost a month of being here we have arrived at differing opinions on things which is interesting but not bad. Hopefully conflict does not arise but if it does then Matthew 18:15-21 will be my best friend.
