Um... Wut?
Day 14 - October 25, 2021
RISE AND SHINE!
Today I woke up early and met up with Elijah for his rooftop photoshoot. This man...WOW! He did the dang thing! I posed the whole session based on mirroring instead of vocal instruction because we don't speak the same language. Mirroring is when I do the pose first and then the client mirrors or copies it. The session definitely takes longer to do that way but I exaggerated everything and acted silly which helped him relax and enjoy his session despite the time it took. I don't have any problems being ridiculous if it helps my people have a good session and love themselves for who they are. Also, his name is pronounce "Eel yah" not Elijah like in the US but it is spelled the same way.
After his session I went with my hosts to lunch and location scouting. Lunch consisted of mushroom risotto, soup, pasta, wings, cheese fries, chicken burgers, lime soda, and milkshakes. We all ordered something different and then passed the plates around the table and everyone tried everything. It was kinda cool because we basically had a potluck in a restaurant. Then we had a conversation about a cultural norm that I was aware of and kind of surprised me.
What I am about to tell you, you are not prepared to comprehend.
Culturally, it is acceptable to marry your cousins AND your parents siblings. So I can marry my uncle’s son but I can also marry my uncle. That is okay. But there are rules. If a family has two sons and a daughter, the children of the two sons cannot marry but the children of the sons can marry the children of the daughter. No problem.
That's all I've got today. I can't really top that with anything else.
